Sanjay Gandhi Hospital Amethi

The hospital in Munshiganj is a big part of life here in Amethi. It is a large campus and people travel from all over Sultanpur and the surrounding villages to get here. Because it is a well-known name we get a lot of visitors every day. The gates are always open and there is a lot of security walking around. Inside the main building the lobby is huge and usually packed with people sitting on the floor or on benches. We have many different departments spread out across the grounds. It can be a bit of a walk to get from the pharmacy to the wards. The air always feels a bit heavy with the smell of disinfectant. We have a lot of staff but there is always more work than people to do it. During the rainy season the paths between buildings get a bit muddy. We see a lot of people who have traveled a long way on buses or tractors to reach us. It is a busy atmosphere with a lot of shouting and calling out names over the speakers. We try to keep things in order but with so many people it is a challenge. Amethi is a place where everyone knows about this hospital. We just try to get through the daily list of patients and make sure everyone gets seen eventually. It is just the way things work here in Munshiganj.
