You will find us out in Hosabettu, right along the NH-17. We are near the Makrana Marble Centre, which is a pretty big spot on the highway. Being out here means we have a bit more space than the shops in the city center. We do interior design and architecture, though the name is a bit of a mouthful. It is mostly just us working out of a shop that has seen a lot of years. The highway noise is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. We spend our time between the office and the building sites. There is always dust on our shoes and probably some on our desks too. We are not the type to have fancy coffee machines; we usually just go to the local stall nearby. We handle everything from the initial sketches to picking out the materials. People come to us when they want someone who knows the local climate and what materials will actually hold up near the coast. The salt air in Mangalore ruins everything if you are not careful. We do not try to sell people things they do not need. If a simple layout works, we go with that. It is about being practical and getting the job finished on time. We have got a lot of samples of wood and stone lying around that we use to show people what we mean. It is a messy, busy, honest kind of business.
