Jeddu Ayurveda Pharmaceuticals

Our workshop is at No. 1-141A in Jeddu, which is part of Alike Village in Vittal. It’s a very rural setting, surrounded by a lot of greenery and trees. This location is important because we need to be close to where the plants grow. We don't have a modern glass building or a corporate office. It’s a plain structure where we do all the processing of the Ayurvedic items. Inside, you’ll find heavy grinding stones and copper vessels. We use heat and water to extract what we need from the herbs. It takes a lot of patience. Some of our processes take days of constant watching. We aren't a big company with hundreds of workers. It’s a small group of us who know the steps by heart. We get our hands stained by the juices of the plants, and our clothes often smell like woodsmoke from the fires. When people come to Alike looking for us, they usually find us busy in the back room. We don't have a glossy catalog or a website with music. If someone needs something, they just talk to us and we see what we have in the storeroom. It is a very direct way of doing things. We stay busy with the seasons, making sure we prepare enough of each item before the rains come or the dry spell starts. It’s just how life goes in the village and we are used to the pace.
