Hegde Plastic Centre

The shop is right on Main Road in Bolwar at number 264. It is easy to find because we have stacks of things outside most of the time. Hegde Plastic Centre is mostly just a place where we keep all kinds of plastic goods. Buckets, bins, chairs, you name it. The road out front is usually busy with people going to the market. We have a small counter inside where we sit when there are no customers. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives. We have to move things around to make space. The floor is concrete and it gets a bit cold in the rainy season. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit but we are used to it. Bolwar is a good area, people are always passing through. We open up around nine in the morning. Usually, the first thing I do is sweep the front steps. Then we start checking what needs to be refilled on the racks. It is a lot of lifting and carrying. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk. Other days we don't even have time for lunch. We try to keep things tidy but it's hard with so much stock. It’s just a regular local business. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. Just the items on the shelves and the people who come in to buy them. It is what it is, a plain and simple shop on the road.
