Shankar Associates

Our office is called Akankash, situated on the first floor over in Ganesh Bagh, Naherunagar. Shankar Associates has been operating out of this building for quite some time now. It’s a sturdy place, nothing too modern, but it stays cool even when the sun is hitting the windows in the afternoon. We have a lot of cupboards filled with old records because we don't like throwing things away if they might be useful later. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, so you have to watch your step. Most days involve a lot of phone calls and people walking in with questions. We don’t have a dress code or anything, just whatever is comfortable for the weather. Naherunagar is a busy patch, and we’re right in the middle of it. Sometimes the tea man from downstairs brings up a tray if we’re too busy to leave. We handle a lot of different things here, and it’s rarely the same two days in a row. It’s just a practical space where we get the job done without much fuss. We’ve got a couple of old computers that still work fine and some desks that have seen better days. It feels like a workplace should, a bit lived-in and honest. There is always someone chatting near the entrance and the atmosphere is generally relaxed even when we have a lot to do.
