About Tripurari Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Purulia
Tripurari Rice Mill is located right in Ward No.01 in Sirari. We are quite close to the Shiv Mandir, so you can often hear the temple bells and the prayers while we are working throughout the day. The mill has been part of this neighborhood for a long time now. It stays pretty noisy inside when the big machines are running, grinding and processing the grain into rice. There is always a bit of white dust in the air, no matter how much we try to sweep up the floor at the end of the day. Farmers from the surrounding areas bring their paddy to us to be processed. We spend a lot of time moving heavy sacks around and making sure the machinery stays in good shape. It is hard work, especially when the harvest season is in full swing and the bags start piling up in every corner. My clothes usually end up covered in rice husks by the end of the shift. The building itself is an old structure with a tin roof that rattles loudly whenever it rains hard. We don't have a big office or anything like that, just a small wooden desk where we keep the registers and papers. Most of the space is taken up by the equipment and the bags of rice waiting to be picked up by the owners. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and everything goes quiet suddenly, which is a bit of a relief for the ears. We just keep doing what we do.
