Steel Authority Of India Ltd

Out here in Chasnalla, things are pretty straightforward. We are part of the Iisco Steel Plant setup under Steel Authority Of India Ltd. I’m V.V.J. Rao, and I handle things for the E & T department as the Assistant General Manager. It sounds like a big title, but mostly it just means I’m the one responsible when something goes sideways. Chasnalla is a bit of a trek, but we’ve got a good group of people here. The work is mostly technical and making sure the equipment is running right. It’s dusty and noisy, but that’s a steel plant for you. We don't spend much time in air-conditioned offices; we’re usually out where the actual work is happening. It’s not the kind of place you come for a tour. It’s a place where people work hard and then go home tired. We’ve had our share of ups and downs over the years, but we keep at it. There’s no need for fancy talk about visions or goals. We just need to make sure the systems are working and the production stays steady. It’s a lot of maintenance and checking gauges. We take pride in just getting the job done without a lot of noise. That's just how we do things in the E & T department here. It’s honest work.
