Sree Raimata Rice Flour & Oil Mill

We are located in the village of Rakshatpur, which is part of the Raghunathpur taluka. Our mill is quite easy to find because we are situated very close to the railway station. You can see the trains passing by from our front gate. We handle a bit of everything here, from grinding rice and flour to pressing oil. On the days we are doing mustard oil, the whole street smells very sharp and pungent. It’s a smell you never really get out of your skin. The building is an old one, with thick walls and high ceilings to keep things a bit cooler. We have a few old machines that have been with us for years, and they need a lot of oiling and care to keep them from rattling too much. Locals from the village and the nearby areas bring their sacks of grain on cycles or small carts. We spend most of the day weighing things out and making sure the machines are fed. It’s a simple operation, run by just a handful of us. There’s always a lot of chatter when the neighbors stop by to get their flour done. We don’t bother with much paperwork beyond what’s necessary. It’s mostly about the work and the people who live around the station. The floor is always a bit slippery from the oil, so we have to be careful.
