Kartik Masala Udyog

We started Kartik Masala Udyog here in the village of Rangamati. It is not a very big place, just a simple building near the Gagi post office. Baghmundi is the main area nearby, so we go there for supplies sometimes. Dealing with spices every day means our hands are usually stained orange or yellow from the turmeric. It is hard to get the smell out of our clothes even after washing them. My brother and I run the grinders mostly. Some days the humidity makes the powder clump up, which is a real pain to deal with. We don't have fancy cooling systems, just a couple of ceiling fans that rattle when they are on high. The neighbors often complain about the sneezing when we grind the red chilies, but they still come over to buy a bag when they run out at home. We just keep at it because this is what we know how to do. The road leading up to our place is a bit bumpy and gets muddy when it rains, so deliveries can be slow. We don't really have a big office or anything. It's just a desk in the corner with a ledger where we write everything down by hand. It works for us. We just want to get through the day's work and head home before it gets too dark on the village roads. It is a quiet life for the most part.
