About Jeevan Asha Welfare Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Purulia
Purulia is a dry place for a lot of the year, and we are right in the middle of it at Gopalganjneturia. Jeevan Asha Welfare Foundation isn't some big operation with a glass building. We work out of a house under the care of Bablu Kisku. It’s a quiet spot, mostly. We started this because there wasn't much else going on in this part of Purulia to help folks out. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment. There are a few desks, some old wooden chairs, and a lot of registers. Bablu is usually the one who answers the door or the phone if it’s working. The dust gets everywhere during the summer, so we spend a lot of time cleaning up. We don't have a marketing team or someone to write fancy flyers. Most people just know us because they live nearby. They walk in, sit down, and we talk over some tea. It is a very slow way of doing things compared to the big cities, but it works for us. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just see what needs doing each day. Sometimes it's helping someone with a form, sometimes it's just listening. The roads around here aren't the best, so people don't travel far. We are just here for the locals in Neturia. It’s honest work, even if it’s not always exciting or fast-paced. We just keep the doors open and do what we can.
