Ganpat Bricks

Ganpat Bricks is right in the village and post of Bandwan, and if you are looking for us, we are just near the petrol pump. Having the petrol pump nearby is actually very convenient because the trucks are always stopping there, and they can just pull right into our yard afterward. Bandwan is a small place, and the police station is also right nearby, so it is a very central spot for the community. We spend our days out in the sun, turning the bricks so they dry evenly on both sides. It is hard on the knees and the back, but we have a good routine down now. The red soil of the village is what gives the bricks their color, and we try not to waste any of it. There is a lot of noise from the main road, but we don't mind it because it means there are plenty of people moving around. We have a small table under a tin roof where we sit and talk to the drivers or handle the money when a sale is made. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is necessary for all the new construction happening around the post office area. We don't have any big missions or grand plans; we just want to make sure the bricks are ready when the customers show up. Each day is pretty much the same as the last, and that's okay with us because the work is honest and steady.
