Krishna Udhyog

Our place, Krishna Udhyog, is located in the Santiniketan Tatana Tolly area. It’s one of those spots that feels a bit tucked away, but we like it that way. We aren't a massive factory with thousands of workers; we are just a small outfit doing our daily business. The building we are in is quite old, and you can see the wear on the walls, but it’s sturdy enough for what we do. Tollygunge has its own rhythm, and we’ve become a part of it over the years. Most of our days are spent checking on the machines or making sure the supplies arrived on time. It’s loud sometimes, and the smell of grease or dust is just something we don’t notice anymore. We don’t have a fancy office with leather chairs. We mostly sit on plastic stools or whatever is available when we need to take a breather. The tea stall at the corner is where we get our morning start, and that’s usually where we hear all the local news. We don't try to sound like a big corporation because we aren't one. We are just local people running a business in a neighborhood we know well. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out, chatting until the lights come back on. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
