About Jai Jagnath Handloom – Fashion & Trends in Puri
My family has been around the Puri area for a long time, and Jai Jagnath Handloom is where we spend most of our daylight hours. We are located right near CV, which is a pretty easy spot for most people to find if they know the neighborhood. Inside, there is always the sound of work going on. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s the kind of noise you get used to when you’re around looms and fabric all day. We mostly handle traditional weaving stuff. It’s manual work, honestly. You have to watch your hands and the threads constantly or things get messed up. Some mornings, we start quite early before the sun gets too hot because the breeze from the coast helps a bit. People stop by, sometimes just to look or ask directions since we are so close to the landmark. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just stacks of material and the tools we use to make them. Sometimes the floor is covered in scrap bits of cotton. We try to keep it organized, but when we are busy, things just pile up. It’s just us here, working through the orders and making sure the pieces look right before they go out. There isn't much to say other than we show up, do the weaving, and go home when the light fades. It’s been this way for a while now in Odisha.
