Saraswata Siskhya Kendra

Our center is in Nimapara, over in the Puri district. It’s a place for learning that’s been around for quite a while now. We aren't a big institution with hundreds of employees. It’s just a handful of us who show up every morning to get things ready for the day ahead. The building is simple and sits on a regular street. We have classrooms that can feel a bit cramped when everyone shows up at once, but we make it work somehow. Most of the families around here know us by name. We don't do much advertising because word of mouth from neighbors is usually enough. You’ll find us mostly busy with the daily routine of teaching and checking attendance registers. The walls have some charts and drawings made by the students over the years. It’s not a polished corporate environment by any means. There are dust motes dancing in the sunlight and the constant sound of traffic coming from outside. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when it pours, so we just move the desks around to a dry spot. We just want to give the kids a place to study without too much fuss or distraction. It’s honest work and we enjoy seeing the progress the students make over the months. If you walk by in the afternoon, you’ll likely hear the sound of voices reciting their daily lessons.
