Jay Jagannath Store

Jay Jagannath Store sits right on the Nayagarh College Road. Being on the Main Road, we see a lot of activity, especially when the college classes let out. Students walk by in groups, and the noise of the traffic is constant. We are quite close to Bazar India, which is a much bigger place than ours. Our shop is a bit cramped because we try to fit so many things on the shelves. We have snacks, household items, and bits and pieces that people need for their daily lives. The ceiling fan wobbles a little when it’s on the high setting, but it works. We spend our mornings cleaning the glass jars and rearranging the packets of goods. When it rains, the water splashes up from the main road, so we have to keep the entrance clear. The floor is made of simple stone that has worn down over the years where people stand the most. We keep a ledger on the counter to write down what we sell. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat about the local news or the prices of things. We don't have any bright advertisements or fancy displays. It is just a regular store where we try to keep the shelves stocked for whoever walks in. The hours are long, but we like seeing the familiar faces from the college and the surrounding neighborhood every day.
