Debata Foods Private Limited is located in a quiet spot called Baulakuda, over by the Jhinkiria post office. Rajat Kumar Debata is the one who really looks after things here. We are not a city business. We are out in the countryside, which changes how you do things. There is no rushing around in suits. We wear what is comfortable for working with food products all day. The building is simple and sits on a nice piece of land. We started this because we wanted to create something local that we could be proud of. Most of the people who help us out are from the same village or just a short bike ride away. It feels more like a community project sometimes than a company. We handle the production and the packaging ourselves. We don’t have any fancy robots or massive assembly lines. It’s mostly done by hand or with small machines that we know how to fix ourselves. The transport can be a bit slow out here, but we’ve got a good system with some local drivers who know the back roads. We don't spend money on big ads. We just make sure the products are good and let people talk about it. It’s an honest way to work. We enjoy the quiet of Baulakuda and the fact that we can do our business without all the city noise and distractions.
