Our place is over in Tala Mali Sahi, specifically at Anusuya Prusty’s location. It’s a quiet corner of the neighborhood, which is actually good for what we do. Chess requires a lot of sitting still and thinking, so we don’t mind being away from the main road noise. The rooms are filled with chess boards and clocks. Sometimes you can hear the clicking of the pieces for hours. We are a small team and we mostly just focus on the game. There isn't any fancy decor on the walls, just some old diagrams and maybe a few posters. We spend a lot of time showing people how to move the pieces and looking at old games. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a big front desk or a secretary. Usually, whoever is free just answers the door. The floor is tile and it stays pretty cool even in the summer. We drink a lot of water and sometimes share biscuits during the breaks. It’s not a high-pressure environment. People come here to learn and we are here to show them what we know about the board. We keep our records in some old binders. It’s a local spot where the locals know us. We just like the game and we like being here in this part of town. It’s a very basic, honest way to spend the day.
