Cabwala

Cabwala is based out of Gourabad Sahi, which is right in the heart of the Swargadwar area. Being in this part of Puri means we are always right in the middle of the crowd. You can hear the waves if the wind is blowing the right way and the traffic isn't too heavy. We have a small room where we keep our keys and the duty roster. It’s a busy place. Drivers come in and out all day, grabbing a quick glass of water before heading back out to the heat. We don't have a big waiting room or fancy leather chairs. It’s mostly just wooden benches and a lot of talk about petrol prices and which roads have too much sand on them today. The guys who work here have been driving these streets for years. We know which lanes are too tight for the bigger cars and where you can find a bit of shade in the afternoon. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult, but we just keep going. We don't do much advertising because most people just find us by walking past or hearing about us from someone else in the neighborhood. It is a straightforward business. We have the cars, and people need to get places. There isn't much more to it than that. We try to keep the vehicles clean, though the sea salt and dust make it a never-ending job for everyone.
