Gr Motiwala And Company is located in the Main Market, right near the Hanuman Mandir. Because we are so close to the temple, we hear the bells ringing all day long and the sound of the morning prayers. It is a very traditional part of the market. Our shop is quite old, with heavy wooden counters and glass cases that have seen better days. We have been here for a long time, and many of the people who walk in are neighbors or people we have known for twenty years. We deal with pearls and jewelry, but the atmosphere isn't fancy at all. We usually have a small metal safe that is always being opened and closed, and there is a tiny stove in the back for making tea. The market gets very crowded on Tuesdays because of the temple, so we usually have a lot of people stopping in just to say hello or escape the heat for a minute. We don't use any fancy computers for everything; a lot of our notes are still kept in paper ledgers. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when it is boiling outside.
