Our business is run out of Syed Shamim Akhtar’s house in Prem Nagar, which is Ward Number 6 in Sugauli, East Champaran. We’ve been doing construction in this area for quite a while now. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way because it means we can actually keep an eye on everything ourselves. We don't have a big marketing budget or any fancy brochures. Most people find out about us because they saw us working on a neighbor’s house. Construction in Sugauli has its own set of challenges, like getting the materials delivered when the roads are bad or dealing with the extreme weather we get here in Bihar. We spend most of our time at the work sites rather than sitting at a desk. We handle all kinds of basic building projects, from foundations to finishing the walls. The name of the company has the word "Samjhauta" in it, which just means we believe in reaching an understanding with the people we work for. We talk about the job, agree on what needs to be done, and then we get to it. It’s a very practical, hands-on way of doing things. We don't use a lot of technical jargon. We just use our hands and our experience. We have had some tough times like any other business, but we keep going because people always need things built.
