Our company is located in the Gangjala area, over in Ward Number... well, the address is a bit short but we are easy to find near Lakhan Chaudhary’s place. We are a group of producers who work with makhana. If you live around here, you know that makhana is a big deal. It grows in the ponds and it takes a lot of effort to harvest and process it. We aren't a big corporate entity with a glass building. We are just a bunch of people who wanted to pool our resources together. Most of our days are spent checking the quality of the seeds and making sure the roasting process is done just right. The heat from the ovens is intense, especially in the summer months. We don't have a marketing department or fancy brochures. Word travels fast in our community, so people know who we are and what we do. Sometimes the crops aren't as good because of the weather, and those are the tough years for everyone involved. We try to help the farmers get a fair price so they can keep their families going. It’s a lot of physical work, from bagging the finished product to loading it onto the trucks. We often stay late into the evening when it’s harvest time. We are just regular folks trying to make the most of what our land provides. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know and we do it carefully.
