Aksharmala Foundation

You’ll find Aksharmala Foundation over in Village Kaesth Kawal. We are part of the Raghopur West area in the Manigachhi block. It’s a place where everyone knows each other. We noticed a while back that many folks around here didn't have the chance to learn much when they were younger. So, we decided to do something about it right here in our own Tola. It’s mostly about helping people with reading and basic learning. We aren't teachers in a big school; we are just neighbors who know how to read and write and want to pass that on. Sometimes we meet under a tree or in a small room when it’s raining. It’s very informal. We don't charge people for this, we just want our village to do better. Manigachhi is a nice place, but it’s easy to get overlooked when you’re out in the rural parts. We make sure the kids have what they need for their lessons, and we help the older folks too if they want to learn. It’s slow work, and it takes a lot of patience. We don't have any big donors or anything. We just use what we’ve got. It feels right to help out the people you see every day at the well or the shop. That’s why we stay here in Kaesth Kawal, doing this little bit of work.
