AHN VALUE NIDHI LIMITED operates out of a spot in Bishunpur village. We are over at Shiv Kumar Mahto’s place. It’s in the Matiarwa area of Motihari. Living in East Champaran, you get used to the slower pace of life. Our office is really just a part of the house. We have some benches for people to sit on while they wait. The air is fresh out here, which is nice compared to the city. We see a lot of farmers and local workers. They come by after they finish in the fields. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning. Just the open door and the sounds of the village. Sometimes cows wander past the window. It’s a very local thing we have going on. Shiv Kumar is usually around to say hello. We keep our records in big metal cupboards to keep them safe. It’s not a complicated setup. We just do the math and help people save their bits of money. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy during the monsoon. We still show up every day though. It’s important to be there when someone needs to talk about their account. We don't use big words or fancy talk. It’s just us and the neighbors. We’ve been part of the village for a while and plan to stay for many years to come. It feels right to work in the place where we were born.
