Maa Kali Ice Cream

You can find us in Srirampur Bazar, right in the middle of all the noise and people. Being in the Purba Midnapur district, it gets very busy on market days. We are near the post office in Srirampur, so there are always people walking past our door. The shop is small and we keep it simple. We have the usual freezers packed with different kinds of ice cream. Most of the work involves serving customers and making sure the shop doesn't get too messy when the crowd comes in. In the summer, it gets incredibly hot in the bazar, and the fans barely do anything. That is when we are the busiest. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just sell ice cream to local families and kids coming home from school. Sometimes the delivery truck is late because of the narrow roads, and we have to tell people to wait a bit. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know most of the people who come in by their first names or at least their faces. We spend the mornings cleaning the glass and checking our stock levels. It’s a decent way to spend the day, even if it gets a bit chaotic when the bazar is at its peak. We just stay here and keep the freezers cold for everyone who needs a break from the sun.
