Kendriya Vidyalaya

You can find us on Salboni Railway Station Road, not too far from the Reserve Bank area in Midnapore. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the bigger cities. Kendriya Vidyalaya here has been a steady part of the landscape for years. We get kids from all over the local area, many of them coming from families working nearby. The walk from the station isn't long, so there's always a stream of students coming and going when the trains arrive. Our building is functional and serves its purpose. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. The classrooms are filled with the usual stuff—desks, maps on the walls, and stacks of notebooks. Sometimes the dust from the road blows in, so we are always cleaning up. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and tea cups, which is pretty typical for us. We just try to get through the syllabus and make sure the kids understand what they are reading. There isn’t a lot of drama here; we just do our jobs. When the sun goes down, the place gets real quiet. It’s a different world then. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words. We just want to make sure the school runs okay and the kids have a place to sit and learn.
