Cereal Mills

Cereal Mills is located right in Demuria village. If you go towards Khalisabhanga post office, you will see our place. We are in the Ramnagar police station area of Purba Midnapur. The mill has been a part of this village for a long time. It is a noisy place when the engines are running and you can hear the machines from down the road. We spend our days taking in grain from the local farmers and processing it. The air inside is always a bit thick with the smell of crushed husk and flour. We have a small team of guys from around the village who help run the machines and stack the bags. The floor is always covered in a thin layer of dust no matter how much we sweep it. We start early, usually before the sun is fully up, to beat the heat of the day. There is no fancy office here, just a small corner with a wooden table where we keep track of who brought what. We talk to the neighbors and the farmers every day. It is just the way things are done in a small place like Demuria. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are and bring their stuff over when it is ready. It is hard work and the hours are long, but it keeps the village moving and everyone has a job to do.
