Sri Ram Bhandar

Our shop, Sri Ram Bhandar, is out in the village of Charanpur in the Barabani area of West Burdwan. To get here, you have to go past the Domani post office. It is a quiet place compared to the big towns, and things move a bit slower around here. We handle a variety of goods that the local people need for their daily lives. The building is a simple structure, much like the other houses and shops in Charanpur. We don't have a big sign or any bright lights. Most of our customers are our neighbors who have lived in the district for a long time. Inside, the shelves are packed with different items, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for. We spend a lot of time chatting with the people who come in, as that is just how things are done in a village. It is not just about the items we sell; it is about being part of the community. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just use flashlights or candles until it comes back on. It is a very basic way of living and working. We don't have a website or any fancy computers to keep track of things. We just use our books and our memory to keep the business running. It is a peaceful spot to be, even if the work is steady.
