Khandelwal Dal Mill

We've been at Plot 36 in the Industrial Estate for a while now. It’s right there in Durgapur Bazar. The area is always busy with trucks and people moving things around. Khandelwal Dal Mill isn't a fancy place, just a working mill where we process pulses. It gets pretty dusty inside when the machines are running full tilt. We spend most of our time making sure the loaders are doing their job and the grain is getting cleaned right. My father started this a long time ago and we just kept it going because it's what we know. The office is really just a small desk in the corner with a lot of ledgers piled up. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights. If you walk into the estate, people can point you to us. Sometimes the power cuts out and everything goes quiet, which is a bit of a relief from the noise, but then we get behind on work. We have about five or six guys who help with the heavy bags. It’s a lot of physical work and not much else. We don't spend money on ads because everyone in the local market knows where to find us. We just try to get the bags out on time and keep the machinery from breaking down. It's an honest way to make a living and we’ve been at it for years.
