Our office and warehouse are located on the Pune-Satara Road, tucked behind the Wadkar Building in Mukundnagar. We’re right beside the Saibaba Temple, so it’s easy to find us if you follow the sound of the bells. The place is full of heavy stone slabs and granite samples. It’s a bit of a dusty environment because of all the stone, but that’s just part of the business. We spend our days showing different grains and colors to people who stop by for their home projects. There’s no air conditioning in the main warehouse area, so it gets pretty warm during the Pune afternoons. In the small office at 8/8-K, we keep the records and handle the billing. The furniture is old and functional, mostly wooden desks that have seen a lot of use. We talk to a lot of builders and architects who need specific cuts of stone. It’s a lot of physical work, moving pieces around so people can see the patterns in the light. We have a small crew that helps with the lifting and loading onto the trucks parked out front. There’s always a faint smell of cut stone and earth in the air. We don’t have a glossy showroom; we just have the actual stock piled up for people to see. It’s a straightforward business where we focus on the material and getting it delivered to the sites on time. We keep a stack of old newspapers to wrap small samples for customers.
