Zaad Foundation

Zaad Foundation is located out on Theur Road in Kesnand, which is part of the Haveli Taluka in Pune district. Our address is Mno.420, Gno446, and it’s a spot that’s seen a lot of changes over the last few years as Pune keeps growing outwards. Kesnand used to be much quieter, but now there’s more traffic and more people moving in. We decided to set up here because there is a lot of work to be done with the land and the local people in this part of Haveli. The name Zaad means tree, and that gives you a hint about what we care about around here. It’s not a polished setup at all. We spend a lot of time out in the dust and the sun, dealing with things as they come. Being on the road to Theur means we get a lot of people passing by. We aren't trying to be some big fancy NGO with a lot of paperwork. We just look at what’s happening in the local villages and try to help where we can. Sometimes that means planting things, and other times it’s just helping a neighbor out with a problem. Life in Kesnand is different from the main Pune city, it’s a bit slower but also harder in some ways. We’ve been at this location for a bit now and the locals know where to find us. It’s just a simple office for simple work.
