Vishay Components

Vishay Components is situated out in Loni Kalbhor, which is quite a ways from the main city of Pune. Being near the railway station is helpful because it makes the commute easier for some of the guys, but you can always hear the trains passing by throughout the day. The facility is fairly large because we need the space for all the components we handle. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but it’s quieter than being right in the middle of town. The air feels a little different, maybe a bit more open. Inside, the floor is marked with yellow lines to keep people from walking into the wrong areas. We spend a lot of time looking at tiny parts that most people never even think about. It’s detailed work and it can be a bit tiring on the eyes after eight hours. We have a small canteen where we all gather for breaks. The talk is usually about cricket or family stuff, rarely about the actual work. We’ve had some of the same people working here for ten years or more, so it feels a bit like a second home. The building itself is older, and you can see where the paint is peeling in some of the hallways. We don’t mind it much. As long as the machines are running and the shipments go out on time, we are happy enough.
