This is our place in Somwar Peth, Solapur. It is the permanent address where Vikas and Nilima have been working for a long time. Solapur is a tough place for plants and gardens sometimes because the weather gets so dry and hot, but that is exactly what we spend our time thinking about. The office at number 62 is pretty simple and functional. We have a few big tables for laying out large sheets of paper. There is usually some dirt on the floor because we are always coming back from a site visit with muddy shoes. We do not bother cleaning it up until the end of the week because it just happens again. Landscape work means we are often out in the sun, so the office feels like a nice dark cave when we finally get back to it. We have books about trees and soil types scattered around the room. It is not a fancy setup with glass walls or modern art. It is just an old building where we keep our tools and our computers. We drink a lot of water and try to stay cool while we figure out how to make a piece of land look better. The neighbors in Somwar Peth know us by now. We have been here long enough that the building feels like part of the family. It is just a practical space for practical work. We do not spend much on decor for ourselves.
