Varshavan Foundation

We are based out of Xrbia Abode, right in flat B2-216. If you know the Gat No 240 area in Village Jambhul, you know it gets pretty quiet out here in Mawal. It’s not like the city at all. Most days, we just sit here and look out at the hills when it rains. That’s probably why we called it Varshavan. Living and working in the same spot means things get a bit messy sometimes. There are files on the dining table and the tea kettle is always running because someone from the village usually stops by to talk. We don't have a big fancy lobby or a receptionist. If the bell rings, one of us just gets up and opens the door. It’s a bit of a climb to get out here, but the air is better than in Pune or Mumbai. We spent a lot of time just figuring out how to get the internet to work consistently at first. Now it's alright. People ask us what we do all day in a residential complex like this. Mostly, we are just trying to get some green stuff growing back in the area and talking to the neighbors about the land. It isn't anything like those big corporate offices you see on TV. It is just a few of us in a regular apartment, trying to make the day useful. Sometimes the lift in B2 acts up, so we take the stairs. It keeps us moving. The gate security is friendly once they know you.
