V G Alloys is tucked away in Bhosari Industrial Estate 61. It is a busy part of the city where everyone is always in a hurry to get things finished. Our workshop isn't very large, but we make do with the space we have. Most days start with pulling up the heavy metal shutters and letting the morning light hit the stacks of metal we have piled up. The air inside usually smells like machine oil and cold iron. We have a few machines that have been with us for years, and they make a specific rhythmic sound that we’ve all grown used to. Outside on the street, there are always lorries loading and unloading, which makes for a lot of shouting and horn-honking. We don't have any fancy posters or a waiting room for visitors. Usually, people just walk right into the work area and talk to us while we are busy. It can get pretty dirty with all the metal shavings and the grease, so we wear old clothes that we don't mind ruining. By the end of the day, everyone is tired and ready to head home, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing the work piled up ready to go out. We've been at this spot for quite some time, and the building itself shows its age with a few cracks here and there. It's just a practical space for practical work, without any of that corporate polish.
