Uttam Galva Steels Ltd., Khopoli, Dist.Raigad

This is Sumit Tantia's place, right in Laad Kunj within the Dhakad Colony of Guna. It is a bit far from the main operations in Khopoli, Raigad, but we make it work from here in Madhya Pradesh. My father, B.K. Tantia, has been in this area for a long time. Working for Uttam Galva Steels Ltd., Khopoli, Dist.Raigad from Guna means a lot of long-distance communication. We handle a lot of the back-and-forth from this small office setup. It is a quiet neighborhood, mostly just houses and some local shops. We have a desk with a computer and a lot of notebooks where we keep track of what is happening out in Maharashtra. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow, but we manage. The colony is pretty peaceful, which is nice when you are trying to concentrate on numbers and logistics. We don’t have a big staff here, just a couple of us keeping things ticking over. It feels more personal when you are working out of a place like Dhakad Colony. You know your neighbors and the guy at the corner store. We spend our mornings catching up on what happened at the plant the day before. It is a regular job with regular hours. We don’t put on any airs about what we do. It’s just about getting the steel business sorted from where we are, even if we are several states away from the main factory.
