Usual Spaces

Our office is located on Senapati Bapat Road, specifically near the 5th Main in Hampi Nagar. It’s a decent area with a lot of movement throughout the day. Usual Spaces is basically a small team of us sitting around desks covered in fabric swatches and tile samples. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. When you walk in, you’re pretty much right in the middle of where we work. We spend a lot of time arguing over which shade of grey looks less like concrete and more like paint. It’s funny how much time goes into things like that. The light in Hampi Nagar is quite nice in the evenings, which helps when we are trying to look at colors. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just look at a room and try to make it work better for whoever lives there. Sometimes we are out at sites getting our shoes dirty, and other times we are stuck here behind monitors for eight hours straight. The 5th Main can get a bit crowded with parked bikes, so we usually walk if we’re going anywhere nearby. We’ve been in this spot for a bit and the neighbors are all used to seeing us carrying rolls of drawings or pieces of wood back and forth. It’s a practical sort of life. We just try to get the jobs done without too much fuss or extra noise, keeping things as simple as they can be.
