We are located over at the General Motors Ltd site in Phase 2 of the M.I.D.C. Talegaon Industrial Area in Pune. Tyco Fire& Security India Pvt Ltd has a presence here to keep an eye on things. Being inside a big industrial zone like M.I.D.C. means there are always trucks and heavy machinery moving around. It’s not the kind of place where you’d come for a casual stroll. Our office is more like a functional hub where we manage the fire and security needs for the site. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between different sections of the plant. We wear our boots and our high-vis vests most of the day. The air is thick with the smell of industry, and it gets pretty loud when the machines are at full tilt. We don't have a lot of time for sitting around. Most of our day is spent checking on systems and making sure everything is up to code. It's a bit dusty and the metal gets hot in the sun, but that’s just the environment. We’re a small crew on-site, so we all have to pitch in and do a bit of everything. There’s no point in trying to sound like a big corporate office because we are right here in the middle of the factory floor. We just do the job and make sure everyone stays safe. It is a long day, but it feels good to finish up.
