Tool Max

The shop for Tool Max is located in Mauli Apartment which is right in the heart of Budhwar Peth. Being near Phadke Haud means there is always something going on outside, whether it is a festival or just the usual rush of people coming to the market. Flora Fountain is not far away either, so it is a landmark everyone knows. Our place is on the ground floor and the door is usually propped open with a heavy brick to let some air in. Inside, the shelves are packed with every kind of tool you can imagine, from tiny screws to heavy-duty drills. It is a bit dark in the back of the shop so we have to use a flashlight sometimes to find the right box. The counter where we stand is made of thick wood and has been worn smooth by years of people leaning on it. We keep a calendar on the wall from three years ago because we like the picture on it and nobody bothered to take it down. It is a very old neighborhood and the buildings are all built very close together, so we know all the neighbors by their first names. We don't have a website or anything like that because most people just walk in or call us on the landline. It is an honest way to spend the day, surrounded by metal and the sound of the busy street right outside our doorstep.
