Our little office is right in the heart of Deccan Gymkhana. It is such a classic part of Pune, with all the old trees and the narrow lanes. We have been operating out of this spot for a long time. It is a simple setup, really. Just a few rooms with desks and chairs that have definitely seen better days. We don't really bother with fancy decorations or anything like that. The walls are mostly bare except for a calendar and a few notes pinned up. We spend a lot of time just talking to people who come through the door. Because we are in Deccan, we get a lot of students and folks who have lived in the area for decades. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. We usually have the windows open to let in a breeze, though it can get a bit dusty. There is always the sound of traffic nearby, but it becomes like background noise after a while. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day, which helps keep us going when things get slow. It is not a high-pressure environment. We just do what we need to do and go home when the work is finished. It feels like a very human way to run a business. We know our neighbors and we know the postman. It is just a regular part of the neighborhood, nothing more and nothing less.
