The Automotive Research Association Of India (Arai)

The Automotive Research Association Of India, or ARAI as most people call us, is situated at S. No. 102 on Vetal Hill. You have to go off Paud Road and head up the hill to find us. It’s a bit of a unique spot because we are surrounded by a lot of greenery and walking trails, which is a nice change from the dusty city streets down below. We’ve been here for quite a long time, and the campus has grown in a bit of a patchwork way. It isn't a single shiny building; it’s a collection of different labs and sheds where we do all the vehicle testing and research work. Walking between the different sections can take a few minutes, and you might even see some of the local wildlife while you’re at it. The atmosphere is pretty serious but not in a corporate way—more like a place where people are busy with machines and technical charts. It gets quite loud when engines are being tested, which is just part of the daily routine here. We don't have a fancy reception area with marble floors. It’s more about the equipment and the testing tracks. People who work here are used to the climb up the hill. It’s a solid, functional place where the work takes center stage. We just keep the gates open and the tests running through the week.
