Tata Institute Of Foundamental Research

Our location is at Post Box No. 3 in Ganeshkhind, right on the Pune University Campus. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but the campus is quiet and has a lot of trees, which is nice for thinking. We are known as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. It’s a place where people spend a lot of time in labs or sitting at desks looking at data. It’s not a business in the sense that we are selling products every day. It’s more about the research and the long hours spent trying to figure things out. The building feels a bit old-fashioned, with long hallways and the smell of old books and equipment. We see students and researchers coming and going at all hours. Sometimes the canteen is the only place where people actually talk about something other than their work. We don't have a marketing department trying to make us look cool. The work is mostly quiet and happens behind closed doors. Being part of the Pune University complex means there's always something happening nearby, but our corner stays pretty focused. We deal with a lot of mail through that post box. It’s a serious place, but we are just regular people trying to do our jobs. We don't use big words to describe ourselves, we just get on with the research and stay busy with the data.
