Tanishka Hitech Nursery

Our place, Tanishka Hitech Nursery, is located along the Pimpale Jagtap Chaufula Chakan Shikrapur Road in Tal Shirur. It is a very long name for a road, and it stays quite busy with heavy trucks passing by at all hours. We spend most of our time out in the sun, moving saplings from one spot to another. The dirt gets under your fingernails and stays there no matter how much you scrub at the end of the shift. We have these green shade nets that help a bit with the glare, but it still gets very hot in the afternoons. Watering the plants takes up a huge chunk of our morning routine. We have rows and rows of little plastic bags with soil and tiny green shoots coming out of them. Sometimes a batch does not grow right, and we have to start all over, which is frustrating. The floor is just packed earth, and it is mostly damp from the hoses. We do not have a big office or anything, just a small shed where we keep the tools and some bags of seeds. People stop their cars on the side of the road to look at what we have growing. It is quiet once the traffic dies down in the evening, and you can hear the wind through the leaves. We try to keep the weeds under control, but they always find a way back in. It is constant, messy work.
