Surya Auto Parts has been tucked away in S-40 at the M.I.D.C. area in Bhosari for quite some time now. If you know this part of Pune, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and the sound of machinery everywhere. It’s mostly greasy work here, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the day. We spend most of our mornings just setting things up and checking the inventory that came in overnight. The metal smells strong in the mornings, especially when the humidity is high. People come in and out looking for specific parts for their vehicles or machines, and half the time we’re digging through bins to find that one bolt or gear they need. It isn't a fancy place with air conditioning or soft chairs. It’s just a practical shop where the floor is concrete and the lights flicker a bit if the heavy machines next door start up all at once. We’ve seen the neighborhood change, new buildings going up while some of the older shops shut down. Our spot in Bhosari stays pretty much the same though. We drink tea from the stall down the road twice a day, usually standing near the workbench and talking about our plans. It’s a lot of manual labor, counting pieces and packing boxes, but it’s what we do. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to shout to hear each other, but that’s just life in an industrial zone.
