Surud Foundation

Down in Shukrawar Peth, life has a certain rhythm. We’re located in Flat 1 S on the first floor of Cts No 959. It’s an old part of Pune, and the buildings have a lot of character. Surud Foundation is just our way of being part of the community. We aren't some big NGO with tons of funding. We’re just a few people who have lived in Pune all our lives. We see the problems people face every day. Sometimes it's just about having a place to go when you're stuck. We don't have a lot of equipment. Just some chairs and a table where we discuss what needs to be done. We help out with local issues, maybe some health stuff or helping people understand government forms. It’s not glamorous. The stairs are a bit steep and the hallway can be dark, but people find us anyway. We’ve been here long enough that the shopkeepers nearby know us by name. We don't try to be something we’re not. We’re just neighbors helping neighbors. Most evenings, you’ll find us finishing up some notes or chatting with someone who stopped by on their way home. Pune is changing fast, but Shukrawar Peth still feels like home to us. We just want to make sure that as things change, nobody gets left behind in our small corner of the city.
