If you walk around Pune City in the 411002 zip code, you will find Supreme Dry Cleanrs. It’s a busy little shop, and we usually have clothes hanging everywhere from the ceiling to the racks. There is always that specific smell of cleaning fluids and steam in the air. I have been running this place for years, and it is a lot of hard work. My hands are usually busy sorting through bundles of laundry or checking for spots that didn't come out the first time. We are not a big chain with a website and automated systems. It is more about me and the few helpers I have, making sure people get their shirts and sarees back in good shape. Sometimes the iron gets too hot or we run out of hangers, but we manage. The machines are old but they still do the job well enough. Most of our customers are locals who live just a few streets away. They drop things off on their way to work and pick them up later. It is a simple business, really. We don't spend money on ads or anything fancy like that. Word of mouth is how people find us. I like being my own boss, even if the hours are long and the steam makes the room very warm in the summer. It is just what we do here in Pune. We just keep our heads down and focus on the piles of clothes that need washing.
