Down here in Wankute, things move at their own pace. We are based out of the Kothe Bu post area in Sangamner. It is a bit of a drive from the main Pune city, but we like it this way. The air is different here and you get to know your neighbors well. Spear Logistics is basically just a group of us working out of this spot in Ahmednagar district. We spend a lot of time looking at schedules and making sure the trucks don't get stuck somewhere on the way. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking manifests on old clipboards. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we have to do things the old-fashioned way with pens and notebooks. The building isn't much to look at, just a practical space for the gear and the paperwork we have to handle. We don’t have a big reception desk or coffee machines. We usually just grab tea from the stall down the road. Most of the guys here are local, so we talk in Marathi more than anything else. It’s hard work, especially when the heat kicks in during the afternoon. We just keep the doors open to catch a breeze and keep moving the crates. Working in logistics in a place like Sangamner means you have to be ready for anything, like a cow blocking the road or a sudden breakdown. We just deal with it and get on with the next thing.
