Space Builders

Our office is right in the heart of old Pune, in Kasba Peth. We are on the 4th floor of Krisha Heights, which is building number 1455. It is near the Gaonkos Maruti Mandir, a landmark everyone around here knows. Space Builders is a small operation. We don’t have an elevator that works all the time, so we get our exercise climbing up to the 4th floor. The view from the window is just roofs and other old buildings. Kasba Peth is very crowded, and the streets are so narrow that two cars can barely pass each other. We spend our days looking at blueprints and talking to contractors. Flat 59 is where we keep all our files. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open, which brings in all the noise from the temple and the market. We are just regular people trying to manage building projects. There is nothing corporate about us. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the rising prices of cement and steel. Pune is a busy city, but Kasba Peth has its own pace. We’ve been here for a while and we know the neighbors. Most of our work involves making sure the sites are running on time. It is a lot of phone calls and checking on supplies. We just do our best to stay organized in the middle of all the chaos. Sometimes the paperwork piles up, but we just clear it off.
