Sonhira Electric Co is right at Shivaji Nagar Landewadi Chowk, at number 1306. It’s a noisy corner because of all the vehicles passing through the junction all day long. The shop is filled with all sorts of electrical components, wires, and tools that people in the neighborhood need. We open up early and usually stay until the evening rush starts to slow down. The shelves are a bit crowded because there’s so much to keep track of. You’ll see reels of cable and boxes of switches everywhere. It’s not the most orderly place, but we know where everything is kept. Landewadi is a busy area, so we get a lot of locals dropping by for small repairs or to buy a bulb. Working in an electric shop means your hands are usually a bit dusty. We spend a lot of time talking to contractors and homeowners who aren't quite sure what they need for their wiring projects. We just try to help them find the right part so they can get back to work. There’s a ceiling fan that’s been clicking for years but we never seem to fix it ourselves. The office part is just a small desk in the corner with a ledger and a phone that rings quite a bit. It’s a basic business, run by people who know the trade. We like being part of the Shivaji Nagar scene, even with all the dust and traffic. Sometimes the noise makes it hard to hear, but that is just part of life here.
