The office is over in Karanjgavan, which is part of the Malegaon Taluka in the Nasik district. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, so it feels more like being in the countryside. The air is a bit better here at least. We have a simple office where we handle the logistics for the local projects. It’s mostly just a few rooms with basic tables and chairs. We spend a lot of time looking at maps of the surrounding land. The walls are a plain off-white, and we have a few calendars hanging up to keep track of deadlines. Nasik can get chilly in the winter, so we sometimes have to wear sweaters even inside the office. We don’t have any fancy software for everything; a lot of it is just tracked in big ledgers. Most of the people working here are from nearby villages, so there is a lot of chatting about local news during the breaks. We get our lunch from a small dabba service that delivers to the area. It’s a straightforward way of working without any of the corporate stress you see in the bigger branches. We just focus on the drawings and making sure the supplies arrive at the sites on time. It is a lot of coordination and phone calls, but we’ve got a good routine going and we try to keep things moving.
