If you walk down the narrow lanes of Raviwar Peth in Pune, you will find us at number 1145. The name on the board is Sitaram Mohanlal Lodha. We are very close to Ranka Jewellers, which is a big place that most people use as a landmark to find their way around these winding streets. This part of the city is old and very crowded. There are scooters everywhere and people carrying big bags of goods. Our shop has that old-world feel to it. The walls are thick, and the ceiling is high. It can get very noisy outside with all the shouting and horns, but inside it feels a bit more steady. We have been part of this market for a long time, following in the footsteps of those who were here before us. We deal with people from all over the city who come to Raviwar Peth for the wholesale prices and the huge variety of things available. We don’t have a website or any fancy marketing stuff. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to show up. Sometimes we share a tea with the shopkeeper next door while we wait for the first customer of the day. It’s the kind of place where a handshake still means something. The rain makes the streets a bit muddy, and the heat makes the air heavy, but we stay right here at our spot every day.
